Cert Surg Technologist II
POSITION
Summary:
Develops, implements, and maintains supply acquisition, storage, and inventorysystems for the central inventory of supplies and equipment necessary to support patient care.
Under thedirection of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technician is a member of the surgical team who works withSurgeons, Anesthesia personnel, RN's and other personnel to perform delegated patient care duties accordingto the standards of the profession and the policies and procedures.
Assists in preparing the set-up and implementation of the case to be performed by the Surgeon.
The individual in this position will interfacedaily with patients, physicians, nursing staff and technologists to ensure quality services and continuum of care.
The individual must demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude and remain productive under stress.
For some departments Surgical Tech may be responsiblefor operating the nurse call system, using phone system (placing telephone calls and paging).
May be responsiblefor operating office equipment (copiers, fax, computer and paging).
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.
Associates degree and three to five years' experience as a Surgical Technologist.
Experience:
1.

Use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse and be able to use and apply hospital software programs.
2.
3.
Answer telephones and transcribe messages and use patient call system.
3.
4.
Must have or acquire the ability to operate patient care equipment (May Include:
but not limited too):
scales, lifting devices, blood pressure monitor.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.
Current Active Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (AST preferred).
2.
High School graduate or equivalent.
3.
BLS Certified.
Experience:
1.
Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care.
2.
Demonstrated excellent organization and communication skills and the ability to work well as a team player.
