Maintenance Mechanic

Employee serves as a Maintenance Mechanic within Facilities Management Service at the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, WV.
Duties will include, performing tasks involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of the building services that include plumbing, laundry, kitchen, and steam piping systems.
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Repairs and replaces kitchen equipment (e.
g.
, dishwashers, pot and pan machines, conveyor set-up lines, dirty dish conveyors, steam cookers).
Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing utility systems (e.
g.
fire sprinkler, sewage and gas, vacuum and high pressure air and distribution, condensate return, potable water distribution), and building utility equipment (e.
g.
, waste closets, tubs, showers, lavatories, steam and hot water heating, pressure reducing stations, circulating pumps, steam and electric water heaters).
Welds by electric or acetylene on various metals; and braze and solder with an iron or torch to mend, repair or install equipment.
Fabricates, assembles, constructs and repairs ducting systems (e.
g.
, HVAC) and other items pertaining to sheet metal work.
Interprets building plans, blueprints and sketches and plans and lays out routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and proper operation of systems and equipment.
Performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, and routine preventive maintenance.
Skillfully selects and uses the hand and power tools and test equipment, including plumbing and pipefitting tools, appropriate for the various installations, repairs and maintenance.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:
30pm.
Position may require working overtime.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
