Surgical Health Technician (Podiatry)

The Surgical Health Technician is part of the surgical team performing direct and indirect patient care service to surgeons and other team members within the Surgical Service here at the Department Of Veteran Affairs Martinsburg Medical Center.
As a team member you will part of a fast paced specialty service, emphasis is placed not only on clinical and administrative duties, but also providing outstanding customer services to our Veterans, patients, family members and visitors.
Incumbent team member is an integral part of the surgical team and must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Duties may include but are not limited too:
Participate in the pre operative planning of all surgical procedures.
Coordinates with Operating Room (OR) staff and other stakeholders to ensure all necessary equipment, supplies, and services are available for each case.
Coordinates appointments and monitors for completion of pre operative outpatient testing, surgical risk assessment evaluations, and pre-admission history and physical exams of all patients undergoing surgery.
Conducts pre operative interview, including collection of health history and completion of clinical reminders (if required) with each patient.
Provides pre operative patient education materials to surgical patients.
Coordinates scheduling of surgical procedures with the Surgical Patient Care.
Coordinates, and ensures posting sheet is completed accurately and timely.
Works closely with OR scheduling staff to increase scheduling efficiency for surgical procedures.
Provides hands on assistance in changing dressings, redressing and other clinical needs as directed.
Works in conjunction with nursing staff in the clinic to ensure optimal patient care is delivered.
Rotate through each specialty within Surgical Services for cross-training purposes to ensure a smooth transition and continuity in services and patient care when coverage is needed due to staffing requirements.
Reviews all charts of patient scheduled for clinic appointments to assure all medical reports are available for provider review.
Compiles monthly report of clinic visits and surgical procedures.
Collaborate with Medical Support Assistant's schedules, all clinic appointments utilizing VistA/Appointment Management software.
Manages pending consults, review e-consults and ensure appropriate scheduling per local and national directives.
Follow- up with all providers to ensure encounters re closed on a daily basis.
Contacts patients to confirm appointments within 48 hours of scheduled appointment and reschedules as necessary.
Reviews all My Health E.
Vet.
secure Messages (SM) as the initial reviewer addressing patients' inquires and escalates as necessary as required.
Evaluates patient's response to surgical intervention by screening follow-up questionnaires or telephone consultation.
Assist with duties as needed in other specialties within Surgical Services.
Other duties as assigned.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
